Welcome to the Language Hub!

Mastering a new language opens doors to new cultures, perspectives, and opportunities. We are here to help you develop your language skills in American Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. We strive to promote the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards, or the 5 C’s: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.

Join our vibrant learning community. Whether you need a grammar refresher or conversation practice, our tutors are ready to help you succeed. Sign up for in-person or online appointments, either for yourself or a group of friends. But we are more than a tutoring center. We have books, graphic novels, DVDs, and even boardgames in other languages. Soon we will host events like international cinema, foreign language open mic, karaoke, and cultural activities. Let us know if you have an idea for an event.

Face-to-Face
In-person tutoring and conversation practices are held in LA020, situated in the basement of the Liberal Arts Building. While appointments are preferred, we try to accommodate drop-in sessions when possible.

Online
We also offer virtual appointment to accommodate your schedule. Tutors and learners convene in real-time via a shared screen. To initiate the online sessions, learners are required to log in, access their appointment, and click "Start" or "Join Online."

Audio-Visual Projects
The Language Hub offers an array of audio-visual equipment you can check out. We also boast a professional recording studio for a variety of projects. Please contact us to schedule a consultation with one of our audio-visual assistants.

Cancellation Policy
You are responsible for managing your own appointment schedule. Please note that confirmation emails may not always be provided. It is advised you set a reminder to ensure you stay on track. We understand that schedules change and life happens. We kindly ask you cancel or change your appointment with 24 hours notice. Two late cancellations or no-shows will result in account suspension. You will need to meet with Dr. James Krause, the Language Hub manager, to reactivate your account.
